Meet Your Therapist
Matt Gamble LPC (He/Him/His)
I am a therapist with over 20 years of progressive experience in mental health, specializing in working with the LGBTQIA+ community and individuals dealing with mood disorders such as depression and anxiety. My therapeutic approach is relational and feminist in orientation, grounded in the belief that our past relationships—both positive and negative—shape who we become as adults. I have a strong focus on issues like gender dysphoria and LGBTQIA+ identity, offering a supportive and gentle therapeutic space for all my clients.
My journey in mental health began at 21 when I worked at a state psychiatric institution for a decade. The experience left me deeply impacted by the inadequate care I witnessed during people’s most vulnerable moments. After stepping away from mental health for five years to explore other fields, I returned with renewed passion. I earned my BA in psychology in 2017, followed by an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2020. Currently, I am pursuing a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision.
In addition to my formal education, I’ve pursued extensive training in integrative mental health practices, including mindfulness, yoga, herbalism, and aromatherapy. This holistic background allows me to blend traditional therapeutic methods with complementary practices, providing a comprehensive and individualized approach to mental and emotional well-being.
Matt is a highly experienced professional in the mental health industry, bringing two decades of progressive expertise to his counseling practice. His therapeutic approach is rooted in a cultural-relational perspective, recognizing the importance of our individual and collective experiences. Matt firmly believes that each person possesses the potential for greatness, and he is dedicated to helping clients tap into their inner strengths.
One of Matt's key priorities is to establish a strong therapeutic rapport with his clients. He understands that this rapport forms the foundation for effective therapy, allowing for the exploration of new relational insights and the reconstruction of old relational patterns. Matt has specialized experience in trauma treatment with adults, addressing addiction issues, and managing mood disorders. He recognizes that every individual is unique, and therefore, he avoids a one-size-fits-all approach to mental health treatment.
Recognizing a need for specialized therapy services addressing LGBTQ+ issues, Matt founded Life Space Therapy Services. This initiative reflects his commitment to providing tailored support to individuals within the LGBTQ+ community.

Ashley Mottley RIC (She/Her/Hers)
I hold a Master of Science in Counseling from Prescott College, with a focus on social justice and addiction counseling. My therapeutic approach integrates Narrative Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, guiding clients to first address symptoms affecting their ability to manage stress, regulate emotions, and navigate daily life. Once these challenges are more manageable, I encourage clients to explore the influence of cultural norms, family dynamics, and past experiences in shaping their beliefs and behaviors. This process empowers clients to create lasting change and identify values they want to carry forward into the future.
I bring experience working with neurodivergent individuals, those with trauma histories, as well as members of the queer and trans communities. My focus is on working with adults and couples. As a neurodivergent therapist myself, I deeply understand the complexities of forming an empowered identity while navigating societal differences. My approach is centered on building genuine, nonjudgmental connections, and I work collaboratively with clients to develop personalized strategies that meet their unique needs.
Ashley is a bilingual counselor passionate about empowering clients through compassionate and culturally-sensitive care. With experience providing individual and group counseling in both English and Spanish, she has worked with teens and adults, supporting them in navigating life's challenges while celebrating their unique strengths. She prides herself on fostering an inclusive environment where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. Her approach combines evidence-based interventions and personalized treatment plans, tailored to each individual's needs. Through thorough assessments and differential diagnosis, she ensures thoughtful and effective care that emphasizes client autonomy and resilience.
Collaboration and growth are at the heart of her work as a counselor. Her evolving understanding of neurodivergence, along with insights gained from consultation and client feedback, continually informs her clinical work. Above all, she is committed to providing thoughtful, empathetic care where clients feel empowered to navigate their own path to healing and growth.
Licensed as a Resident in Counseling in Virginia, Ashley is under the supervision of Ramfis Marquez Castillo PhD, LPC.
